Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to have internationals back in Manchester United training soon

Speaking to club reporter Mark Sullivan for the official Manchester United website, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed some internationals will join their training session from Monday.

A number of United players were involved in the Euros as well as Copa America for their respective countries. And naturally, they needed an extended holiday as compared to other players.

However, the Norwegian mentions that the newcomers may not feature against Brentford in their friendly on Wednesday, as they would still have some catching up left to do.

“It’s still a bit too early for them Many will join in training on Monday so they’ve got their catch up, a few weeks. That’s unfortunately the way it is, every year where there is a tournament, we have to catch up and hopefully they’ve done the work we’ve told them to do when they’re away.”

Fred, Maguire and co to be back soon

Of course, some players and countries went further in these two competitions than the others. Four Manchester United players were involved in the two finals.

That list included Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw, who made it to the Euros final for England vs Italy. Brazil’s Fred was also present in the Copa America showpiece when Argentina lifted the trophy.

According to Solskjaer, those players will take more time than the others to return to training and will join up with the Red Devils in about 10 days.

“The English players and Fred, the ones who went all the way to the finals in the Copa America and the Euros – they needed a longer break. They’ll be back with us in about 10 days’ time.”
