Transfer News: Manchester United lay down terms for Diogo Dalot deal

According to transfer news from Daily Star, Manchester United have laid out their demands for Diogo Dalot. AC Milan want the player on loan with an option to buy. However, United are looking at a significant loan fee of €5-6m prior to a sale.

The 22-year-old Portuguese full-back spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at the San Siro, playing a part in Milan’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League. While he may not have been an automatic first choice, he made 33 appearances for the Rossoneri, scoring twice and providing three assists.

Dalot’s impressive form led to a call-up to the Portugal side for the Euros. While he didn’t really feature in the initial stages, he did go on to play in two of the more important games against France and Belgium. Currently, Dalot is back at United and will link up with the side soon.

United had to walk away with nothing the last time they sent Dalot on loan. They are hoping not to have a repeat of that as AC Milan return with another loan proposal. The deal would be an initial loan with an option to buy. A loan fee demand of €5-6m is expected from United and then the sale can be discussed later.

Dalot does not seem to be in the plans of Solskjaer despite having one of his better seasons. However, a loan deal will allow some more time for the club to decide his future. Letting him go might look like a mistake but if United are not intent on using Dalot, he might as well be sold.
