Gary Neville says Erik ten Hag needs to perform in last competition to save his job at Man United
Erik ten Hag is running out of options to save his job at Manchester United. The Dutchman couldn’t even survive the group stages of the UCL. He also failed to defend the Carabao Cup title he lifted last season.
Now the team is seventh in the Premier League and might not even be a part of European competitions next season. However, despite all his failures, Erik ten Hag might have one option available to him.
Gary Neville says that the Dutchman’s future now depends on how his team will perform in the FA Cup. The former Man United skipper had a lot to say on the topic while speaking to Sky Sports, let’s have a look. (h/t The Mirror)
“What we can say is that Ten Hag’s future is largely dependent on the FA Cup, because the performance levels in the league have gone. They are like this and they are not going to change now.”
Neville clearly has no faith in Man United to perform in the Premier League. However, the FA Cup still remains wide open. The Red Devils will be facing Coventry City in the Semi-Finals this Sunday.
If Erik ten Hag and his crew prevail the team will go through to the Finals and will have to face either Man City or Chelsea. Now, both teams have caused no end of trouble to the Dutchman this season.
A lot of folks wouldn’t be wrong to assume that Man United don’t have what it takes to win any silverware this season. However, this team can be highly unpredictable and you never know what kind of performance you will get out of the group.
