Solskjaer to include Manchester United star Jesse Lingard in his plans next season
According to Daily Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided to include Manchester United star Jesse Lingard in his plans next season. West Ham were keen on bringing back the midfielder but Solskjaer has confirmed that Lingard will not be leaving United this season.
Over the first half of last season, Lingard became a forgotten player at United, with the occasional cup game. During the winter transfer window, Lingard was allowed to move to West Ham on loan for the remainder of the season.
Lingard performed like a house on fire with a barrage of goals and assists. At one point it looked as if the 28-year-old would single-handedly carry West Ham to the top four places. While they did fall short in the end, Europa League was still ensured as Lingard capped off one of his best-ever seasons.
Solskjaer wants to keep Lingard for the next season
United got their preseason underway against Derby County with a 2-1 win. Jesse Lingard was called on in the second half as the player featured for the first time for United in seven months. The English midfielder was a lively presence amidst all the academy players in the second half. Now, Solskjaer has confirmed that Lingard will remain at Manchester United for next season.
“Jesse is a Man United player. He wants to fight for his place. He has come back bright, bubbly, loads of energy, confident. Everyone saw what he did towards the end of last season at West Ham. He is still in my plans.”

It’s definitely a bold call to keep Lingard at the club especially after what happened last season. Chances are that he might not feature regularly in the presence of star names such as Bruno Fernandes. Solskjaer might be making a mistake here by not cashing in on Lingard’s fiery form.
