Transfer News: Manchester United to pass up on Jules Kounde
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United could pass up the chance to sign Jules Kounde. The Red Devils are believed to prioritising a deal for Raphael Varane followed by Pau Torres. Tottenham and Arsenal are said to be after Kounde.
By now, it is no secret that United are in the market for a new central defender. A capable partner to Maguire has been the need for a while now as United try to clear the gap between the top sides. The club have shortlisted quite a few names from La Liga and among them was Jules Kounde.
Kounde is an extremely promising player who appears to have a bright future ahead of him. The 22-year-old was a part of the Sevilla side that knocked United out of the Europa League in 2020. The French youngster has been in excellent form for Sevilla and is a regular for Julian Lopetegui’s side. He has made 49 appearances for them this season, scoring four goals and assisting one. However, it would now appear that United have turned their attention away from Kounde. Raphael Varane is believed to be the first priority and if that does not work out, they have Pau Torres as an alternative. United’s passing up of Kounde means that Spurs and Arsenal are left free to go after him.

While Kounde would be a great long-term choice, United are looking at more experienced options in someone like Varane. Both the French defenders are quality but Varane has won it all and United could do with that sort of mentality.
