Manchester United ready to make Paul Pogba the highest-paid player in the Premier League

According to The Sun, Manchester United are ready to break the bank in order to keep Paul Pogba at the club for the foreseeable future.

The 28-year-old has around a year left on his current deal at United. So far negotiations regarding a new offer have gotten nowhere and he could potentially leave on a free next year.

United are unwilling to let that happen and are now readying a new arrow in their quiver. They are now ready to offer him a new contract worth £400,000-a-week for the next five years. Accepting the deal will ensure that the French ace will spend the prime of his career at Old Trafford. (h/t The Sun)

Pogba is already one of United’s top earners at £290,000-a-week. The Red Devils are not keen to go into the new season without his future being settled and hope the lucrative new offer will swing the pendulum in their favour. (h/t The Sun)

Veteran goalkeeper David de Gea is currently United’s top earner with a whopping £375,000 per week. Having Pogba eclipse that shows the seriousness with which United are taking the player’s future. The player is currently at the Euros with France and United will wait until after the tournament to finalize the deal.

Positive signs!

Pogba revealed earlier this week no agreement had been settled with United yet. However, that may not be far away, and the early noises between both camps have so far been positive. This will be good news for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is keen to keep hold of his star player. (h/t The Sun)

The 28-year-old midfielder has often flattered to deceive at United. However, he put up some of his best performances in a red shirt since the turn of the year, aiding United’s Premier League title charge and the run to the Europa League final.
