Axel Tuanzebe keen to leave Manchester United on loan this summer
According to ESPN, Manchester United defender, Axel Tuanzebe is keen to leave the club on loan in the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old was effectively the fourth-choice centre-back at United last season. He was behind the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly in the Red Devils pecking order. As things stand, it would appear unlikely that he has experienced an improvement in his standing.
Having come through the club’s academy, Tuanzebe is held in high regard at the club. This has, however, failed to translate into appearances. In fact, he has made just 29 appearances for the club over the last two seasons. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The youngster is now ready to continue his development and is in search of regular playtime elsewhere. He is seeking a temporary move to a new club and appears to have offers from both England and abroad. Where he eventually ends up remains to be seen. (h/t ESPN)
Tuanzebe has a year left on his current deal at United, with the club having the option for another year. Having him play a peripheral role for another season could prove to be a bane in any future contract negotiations.
According to the report, the player will have a conversation with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when the squad assembles for pre-season training next month.
Greener pastures!
Tuanzebe enjoyed a successful loan spell at Aston Villa between January 2018 and May 2019, helping them win promotion to the Premier League. The Villans were linked with a move for him earlier this year and it will be interesting to see if he will be permitted to return to Villa Park. (h/t Birmingham Mail)
Such a move would make sense for United as well. Having him play on a regular basis in the Premier League will show the club whether he is capable of making the cut at the top level.

United are in the market for a new centre-back this summer. Such an addition will prove inimical to Tuanzebe’s hopes at gaining more playtime. It is perhaps a win-win to permit him to seek a loan move elsewhere for the upcoming campaign.
