According to the club’s official site, Edinson Cavani has expressed the pride he feels at donning the Manchester United jersey and has sent a message to the fans.
The veteran striker has been a revelation since joining the club last summer. He is our third-highest scorer this season and boasts the best strike rate of any Red Devils attacker this season. (h/t BBC)
Cavani played in front of the fans for the first time on Tuesday against Fulham. He scored a perfectly weighted lob from 40 yards to put United ahead and show fans exactly what they have been missing out on.
“I’ll be doing my best to ensure we can enjoy some happy moments altogether.”
The 34-year-old recently extended his contract at the club. With his future now secure, his focus has shifted to ending his first season at the club on a high.
The Red Devils take on Villarreal in the Europa League final on 26 May. Having played a key role against AS Roma in the semifinals, Cavani will hope for a similarly happy outcome in the final.
Cavani revealed that he is in top condition and is looking forward to giving it his all at Old Trafford. It is a testament to his attitude that despite his age, he is keen to keep improving.
“I feel good right now, full of desire to do well, keen to train hard, and yes, if I can, I’ll be aiming to get better and keep improving. Absolutely!”
What it means
The veteran ace also underlined his commitment to the club and promised fans that there would be no let off from his end.
“I’m here to give my very best, right until the final minute of every game and until the final game I play for the club.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has often spoken of the United DNA that he seeks in his players. It is fair to say that Cavani, despite his limited time at the club, has understood perfectly just what it means to don the jersey.
