Manchester United to battle Liverpool and Tottenham for Andrea Belotti
According to Tuttosport (h/t The Daily Mail), Manchester United are among three English teams who are in the fray for Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
The 27-year-old is one of the best strikers in the Italian top flight and has been a revelation since moving to Torino in 2015. With 12 goals and six assists, he leads for his club in both categories this season.
Belotti’s consistent performances have also seen him catch the eyes of both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. With just over a year left on his current deal, a number of teams are circling for his signature.
A number of continental sides are also keen on the Italian international. This includes Ligue 1 side Lyon and the Serie A quintet consisting of AC Milan, Inter Milan, Roma, Fiorentina and Napoli.
Among them, AC Milan are said to have the upper hand to land the player. The 27-year-old may prefer to stay put in Italy than move abroad.
It is no secret that United need a striker to bolster their attack next season. Add to it Edinson Cavani’s uncertain future and the addition is more of a necessity than a luxury.
A proven goalscorer!
An out-and-out forward, the Italian international can lead the line with aplomb and is currently in the prime of his career. While Belotti does have an £85m exit clause limited to foreign clubs, he could be signed for much lower. (h/t The Sun)
It is not the first time that United are expressing interest in Belotti. He was seen as a potential successor to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and also scouted last summer. He might very well go to Milan and partner Zlatan in attack instead.
It has been suggested that he could be signed for as little as €25m, a steal if it turns out to be true.
