Transfer News: Manchester United receive boost in their pursuit of Yves Bissouma
According to transfer news from Express, Manchester United have received a boost in the chase for Yves Bissouma. Brighton manager Graham Potter has conceded that he might not be able to keep the midfielder at the club with interest from clubs like United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Brighton man has not attracted the attention of Manchester United without reason. Even though Brighton have fared poorly this season, Bissouma has kept on doing his job and is doing it all too well. While he is used to playing in a more central role, he has been used to good effect in a defensive role.
Bissouma is adept at carrying the ball from his own half to the opposition area. It is not easy to dispossess him off the ball. While that would be an added bonus, it will be his ability to break down the play and his defensive abilities that should interest Manchester United more. He is one of the reasons why Brighton are such a tricky team to deal with.
It is understandable that United would want a player like Bissouma given how they don’t have a solid defensive midfielder. Nemanja Matic looks to be running on his last legs.
The duo of McTominay and Fred is an interesting one but they cannot function in the absence of one other. That means Solskjaer has to play two defensive midfielders, thereby compromising on an attacker.
With Graham Potter now finally accepting that he cannot keep the prized midfielder at the club, Manchester United could have a chance at signing the 24-year-old.
“Like any player, we have to be honest and sensible enough to know that if a player is good enough to play at that level and has that opportunity, then we shouldn’t be scared of that. Clearly there’s a consequence to that in terms of transfer fees, etc etc. That’s out of my control.”

While Potter wants him to continue developing at the Amex, there is a growing feeling that he is destined to head for one of the bigger teams in the league. Manchester United would be wise to move ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool if they want to win Bissouma’s signature.
