Jose Mourinho hopes to capitalise on Manchester United’s midweek fatigue

According to news from Daily Mail, Jose Mourinho is expecting his Tottenham side to exploit the fatigue of Manchester United. The Red Devils made a round trip to Spain for their Europa League quarter-final first leg and will have to face Spurs on Sunday evening.

However, Spurs had the midweek free with their side getting knocked out in the previous round by Dinamo Zagreb. Until now, they had most of their midweeks occupied by cup fixtures, either the Europa League or Carabao Cup.

Fernandes’ goal could prove pivotal in the tie

Now after getting a whole week between games, Mourinho is hoping that his side can take advantage of Manchester United’s hectic schedule and travel fatigue due to the Granada game.

‘We are working well during this week. For the wrong reasons, which is knocked out of Europa League, but for the wrong reason, we were able to have a week to work; for the good reasons, we didn’t have many during the season.

‘And now we had it. And that makes me positive. I enjoy the work this week. And I’m positive. I don’t look too much for the records. Because sometimes things go against the stats, or the tendencies, or what the records are saying.’

Mourinho added that he feels confident with his side and that they are prepared to face United. He will be hoping for something close to the October result from last year but it is hard to see something like that happening. United have been splendid away from home and are in good form.
