Transfer blow for Manchester United as Tottenham slap £175m price tag on Harry Kane

Manchester United have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane heading into the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, the North Londoners have now slapped a £175m price tag on a player who is one of the best in the world in his position. This just adds a further obstacle for United given Spurs’ reluctance to sell to a domestic rival.

Kane’s future at Tottenham was called into doubt following years of personal glory failing to lead to success for the team. The 27-year-old also did little to quell speculation by refusing to commit to the club.

The Red Devils are heading into the summer knowing full well that an infallible scorer is the need of the hour. Edinson Cavani could be on his way out while Anthony Martial has been unimpressive.

Add to it the injury woes of Marcus Rashford, bringing in a new striker is a no-brainer. Kane would have been a perfect fit and would also have added to our homegrown quota. As things stand, signing him appears to be a bridge too far.

Must show cutting edge!

The past couple of days have thrown up few cheers in United’s pursuit of a striker. The representatives of Erling Haaland too have been busy meeting with representatives from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

While a decision on his future is yet to be taken, United have a road that is far from easy in their pursuit of the Norwegian. Whether we decide to break the bank or seek an alternative remains to be seen.
