Declan Rice left impressed by Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard
Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard made the right choice to join West Ham United on loan in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old who struggled for game time at Old Trafford has since emerged as a key player for the Hammers. He has so far scored five goals and assisted three in just seven appearances for David Moyes’ side. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Lingard’s performances also drew the attention of England manager Gareth Southgate. The United loanee received a call-up to the Three Lions squad for their World Cup qualifiers this month – something unfathomable just three months ago.
According to The Mirror, Hammers ace Declan Rice is in awe of Lingard and believes the player has added much to the West Ham attack.
“Jesse is just such a great character and he has just added a lot to West Ham.”
He has gone on to call Lingard one of the best players in the league on current form. Given what we have seen of him at West Ham so far, it is hard to disagree.
“There is no doubt that he is one of the best players in the league right now in terms of form.”
A charming personality!
Rice also went on to admit that Lingard’s return to the England fold has been welcomed by his peers. A great person to be around, the 28-year-old appears to have a charismatic personality that appeals to his teammates.
“He has been away from the squad for two years but he has come back in and all the lads are buzzing to see him. He is making everyone laugh.”
Lingard has done well to go out on loan and resurrect his reputation. Currently in his prime, it remains to be seen if he still has a future at Old Trafford.

Lingard’s antics on Instagram do at times tend to colour perception regarding his ability on the field. The fact that legends of the game such as Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho favoured him shows there is more to the player than what meets the eye.
Now that David Moyes also is able to coax the best out of him, question arises as to why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can’t.
