Manchester United open to securing Adrien Rabiot in exchange for Donny van de Beek

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United star Donny van de Beek has been named as a transfer target for Italian champions Juventus.

The Netherlands international has failed to impress since joining the club last summer. Despite scoring on his debut, he has found opportunities hard to come by under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Juventus meanwhile are looking to take advantage of the situation and land the 23-year-old. Their interest has also been emboldened by United’s interest in Adrien Rabiot.

According to the report, an exchange between both the players could be under consideration. It goes on to add that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not averse to losing Van de Beek provided he can land Rabiot.

The Frenchman is an experienced player despite being just 25. He came through the ranks at PSG before going on to make a number of appearances for the French giants.

Rabiot moved to Juventus for free in 2019 but has failed to hit the same heights at the Allianz Stadium. He has scored just four goals and assisted three in 72 appearances for the Turin giants.

A change of scenery?

With both players considered non-essential at their respective clubs, an exchange could work out well for all parties involved.

With a larger physical presence, Rabiot could potentially find it easier to cope with the nature of football in England.

United have hit the jackpot in recent windows by bringing in the likes of Bruno Fernandes. We have also experienced the other end of the spectrum regarding Donny van de Beek.

The Dutchman is by no means a bad player but Solskjaer appears to have no idea of how to get the best out of him. If the Norwegian is keen on Rabiot, the club would be better off swapping Van de Beek for him.
