Andreas Pereira set for Manchester United return in the summer
According to Italian publication Citta Celeste, Andreas Pereira is set to return to Manchester United in the summer.
The Brazilian is currently on a season-long loan at Serie A side Lazio. His time in Serie A has so far been unimpressive, to say the least.
Lazio has the option to sign the player permanently for €25-27m. However, given his performances, there is little reason to expect them to take up the clause.
With just one goal and two assists in 22 appearances, he is the forgotten man at the Stadio Olimpico. Most of these appearances have come off the bench with Pereira lasting a mere 556 minutes. (h/t Transfermarkt)
As things stand another Italian publication La Lazio Siamo Noi has backed up the claim that Lazio is unlikely to spend much to secure Pereira. This once again strengthens the claim that he will return to England at the end of the campaign.
Although his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2023, Pereira’s chances at United is spotty at best. He has failed to impress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it is unlikely he will be given another chance.
Looking for suitors
The Red Devils seem aware that Lazio has no interest in signing Pereira permanently. They are on the lookout for potential suitors who may want to take him off the club’s hands.
Signed from PSV Eindhoven in 2011, Pereira progressed through the ranks at United, winning the prestigious ‘Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year award’ in 2014/15.
He has failed to turn that potential into tangible performances. Pereira has made just 75 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, scoring just four goals and making five assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Pereira’s performances will have given United little hope in attracting suitors who will pay them what they ask for. There is still a part of the season to be played and the player could yet go on to showcase his abilities.
