Three AC Milan stars in doubt for Europa League clash against Manchester United
According to varying reports (h/t Sport Witness), AC Milan could be without three stars ahead of the Europa League clash against Manchester United.
One man who is definitely out is former Red Devils favourite Zlatan Ibrahimovic. But the 39-year-old could be fit for the return leg in a week’s time.
French defender Theo Hernandez could make the squad after missing last weekend’s game with a fibula injury. Interestingly, his absence gave United loanee Diogo Dalot the opportunity to shine against Hellas Verona.
According to CalcioMercato (h/t Sport Witness), both Ante Rebic and Hakan Calhanoglu look set to remain in Italy. Both players have contributed to Rosonneri’s offensive output and will be missed.
With three major offensive weapons redundant, the United defence could have an easier day in the office. It remains to be seen if Milan are willing to risk the pair on Thursday.
Any aggravation of injuries could see the Italians fall further behind Inter Milan in the race for the Scudetto. Despite being at the top of the table earlier in the season, Milan are now six points behind Antonio Conte’s side.
A lack of strikers
Despite the injuries, United cannot rest easy. Milan still have enough in their arsenal to beat us and we will do well to not have an odd day. Mario Mandzukic is another Milan player who is out for the game.
United star Marcus Rashford was taken off with an ankle injury at the weekend and it remains to be seen if he will be risked. The same can be said of Edinson Cavani, who missed Sunday’s game altogether.
