Scans reveal Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has avoided major ankle injury
Manchester United can breathe easy regarding the physical condition of ace forward Marcus Rashford.
Concerns were raised about the player after he was taken off against Manchester City with a slight knock. Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that the 23-year-old had a slight knock on his ankle.
According to the Telegraph (Subscription Required), scans taken on Monday have ruled out any major damage to Rashford’s ankle ligaments.
While the worst may have been avoided, Rashford could still face a spell on the sidelines. There has been visible ballooning in his ankle and he struggled to put weight on it as early as yesterday.
Rashford will now proceed to ice it over the next two days, with the club keeping close tabs on his condition. The 23-year-old is a major doubt to face AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday and faces a race against time to be fit for the Premier League clash next weekend against West Ham United.
United’s second top scorer, Rashford is the only player who has featured in every single match this season. That perfect record could now be in jeopardy.
United will do well to tread carefully regarding Rashford’s fitness. The 23-year-old is yet to completely recover from a muscle tear in his left shoulder in last November’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The player is aware of his importance to the team and continues to play through the pain barrier. He could also need surgery once next summer’s European Championships are over.

At just 23, Rashford has made 257 appearances for United. The fact that he continues to take the field despite injuries is a major concern. Untied will need to ensure he does not follow in the footsteps of another gifted but crocked Three Lions striker – Michael Owen.
