Manchester United star Marcus Rashford may be set for surgery after playing through an injury
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Manchester United star Marcus Rashford may need surgery after playing with an injured shoulder this season.
The 23-year-old is the club’s second-highest scorer and has made 42 appearances this campaign. But his performances have been a mixed bag, with both ends of the spectrum covered. (h/t BBC)
The United ace suffered a muscle tear in his left shoulder in last November’s Premier League clash against Arsenal. Four months on, he does not appear to have fully recovered.

Rashford is the only United player to play in all 42 of the club’s games this season. This has taken a toll on his body and has affected his performances.
The English ace has been forced to deal with his shoulder becoming badly inflamed after matches. This has restricted his mobility during games, including his ability to jump, and hold up the ball. Rashford’s team-mates are amazed that the player continues to play through the pain barrier.
Rashford was also seen clutching his left arm in discomfort after colliding with an advertising hoarding in our 0-0 draw away to Crystal Palace.

While the player is willing to put himself through pain, it could have long-term implications for both club and country. Rashford is a key piece for both United and England, and is unlikely to be dropped when available.
Deja vu?
The striker was pushed to breaking point last season after suffering a double stress fracture in his back that he continued to play with. Hopefully, history will not repeat twice.
He is expected to join up with the England squad for the World Cup qualifying matches against San Marino, Albania and Poland later this month. Hopefully, proper scrutiny will be done in the months to come.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is concerned about the player, he continues to play him whenever possible. Rashford could do with a breather but whether United can cope without him is another matter.
Still just 23, he has his whole career ahead of him. While it is brave that he continues to push the pain barrier, it should not come at the cost of his career.
