Manchester United star Edinson Cavani misses out but Anthony Martial returns for the derby
According to the Metro, Manchester United will welcome back Anthony Martial ahead of the derby against Manchester City.
The Frenchman missed our last game against Crystal Palace following an injury sustained in training on Monday. A doubt for the game, he has thankfully made the squad.
His presence is all the more important given that Edinson Cavani may not be making the trip to the Etihad. With the Uruguayan out, Martial is the only senior specialist striker in the United squad.
Cavani missed four games for United due to a muscular injury but returned for the goalless draw with Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening. It proved to be a forgettable night as the clubs tumbled their way to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park.
The 34-year-old was taken off in the second half against Palace but did not appear to have any injuries. He was not among those pictured at the team’s hotel on Saturday, however.
United are set to take on Pep Guardiola’s side sans a number of players. David de Gea, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Phil Jones and Juan Mata are all sidelined due to various reasons.
The Citizens meanwhile have a fully fit squad and are in the form of their life. Anything short of a win would be yet another hurdle in what was a surprising but short-lived title race.

United are unbeaten in February but have failed to convert one point to three. While our involvement in the title race has come as a surprise, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has failed to make the most of it. A win tonight will once again rekindle hopes of a titanic shift of fortunes in Manchester.
