Dimitar Berbatov reveals how Manchester United can rediscover their scoring shoes
According to Betfair (h/t The Daily Star), Dimitar Berbatov has offered his advice on how Manchester United can start scoring goals again.
The Red Devils are going through a crisis up front and have failed to score in their last three games. The recent performance against Crystal Palace was rife with a lack of imagination and saw us notch up a solitary shot on target.
Berbatov was clearly not happy with what he saw at Selhurst Park. He believes the concentration level was lacking and that the strikers were not at their best.
“These are the type of games when concentration levels need to be high and strikers should be 100% sharp.”
The Bulgarian rightly pointed out that the onus of scoring goals does not rest solely on the shoulders of strikers. The rest of the team has to chip in too as it is a collective effort.
“It’s not only strikers who can score goals and the rest of the team needs to chip in.”
Berbatov is fine with the team not scoring beautiful goals as long as they can get the ball into the back of the net. With the season winding down, there is no worse time for us to get back to form. The sooner we can regain our bearings, the better.
“United need to pick up their attacking game and I don’t care how they do it.”
Practise makes perfect
Berbatov believes such a slump can be addressed with more application on the training pitch. Being able to regain their footing
in training should help increase confidence levels which can then be translated onto the field. While strikers are responsible for putting chances away, the rest of the team also have to do their part and help their forwards do that. It is time that the whole team chipped in as a unit.

Berbatov’s assessment that goalscoring isn’t purely the forte of strikers is true especially in the case of United. After all, the club’s scoring charts are currently being led by a midfielder.
