Manchester United in touch with Wayne Rooney regarding promising young Derby Country trio
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United have reached out to Derby County manager Wayne Rooney ahead of making a move for three promising Rams youngsters.
The United legend took over at Pride Park as temporary manager last year before being appointed on a permanent basis this January.
While the Rams continue to battle against relegation, their acadamy has been producing talents that can help balance their chequebooks.
United missed out on Kaide Gordon who moved to Liverpool for £3m. But the Red Devils have since turned their attention to others within the Championship side’s academy.
As things stand, the Red Devils have earmarked three youngsters, all under the age of 15 for a combined fee of £750,000. Rooney was consulted regarding the interest and the trio now looks set to make the switch to Manchester.
United have made it a habit of landing some of the best young players in recent windows. The likes of Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri and Joe Hugill have all walked into the club.
The youthful crusade!
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown his willingness to give youth a chance, making United a favourable choice for young players. 17-year-old Shola Shoretire became the latest youngster to make his first-team bow.
Still under the age of 15, United may have to wait a while before the signings from Derby join the senior ranks. While making it to the top is not easy, the club is boosting its chances by bringing in more talents from across the continent.
