Manchester United star Marcus Rashford injures his knee against Liverpool
Speaking to BBC (h/t MEN), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford came away with a knee injury against Liverpool.
The 23-year-old enjoyed an excellent night as he played a key role in our first two goals. He carved up the Liverpool defence for the first and skinned past Rhys Williams to score United’s second.
Solskjaer revealed after the game that Rashford will have a scan in the next few days to determine the extent of his injury. United now face an anxious wait regarding their ace scorer’s fitness.
“His knee was bothering him. So a scan tomorrow and we’ll see where we are.”
Rashford was one of the best players on the pitch and was heavily involved in United’s attacks. The 23-year-old drifted all across the frontline and gave the out-of-form Liverpool defence much to ponder about.
“Marcus has played a little bit up front, down the right and down the left.”
The Englishman is United’s second top scorer this season. A dependable player, he is easily our best frontman this campaign.
Taking one’s chances!
In a match decided by fine margins, United came out trumps, thanks to a late Bruno Fernandes free-kick. Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool the lead early on before Mason Greenwood drew us level.
Rashford put us ahead in the second half before Salah equalised for the Reds with his second of the night. While Liverpool did have their chances to regain the lead, it was United who made theirs count.
Edinson Cavani won the Red Devils a free-kick in a promising position in the 78th minute. Having come off the bench, Fernandes stepped up to dispatch the ball past Alisson Becker.
