Marcus Rashford to be offered a new contract by Manchester United
A report by Mirror states that 23-year-old forward Marcus Rashford is in line for a contract renewal at Manchester United.
Rashford is in stunning form this season, having already scored 12 times for United. The new contract will highlight his growing importance at the club.
His match-winning displays, such as his brace against Sheffield United in their 3-2 win, has made him a highly important member of the Red Devils squad.
The new contract is set to be offered around the new year. Marcus Rashford’s current deal expires in the summer of 2023 and he is already on £200,000-a-week wages.
United also have the option to extend his current deal by one extra year, to 2024, but want to tie him down to a new contract before the start of the 2020 UEFA European Championship next summer.
Rashford has attracted the interest of big clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Real Madrid. And hence, he can be in even more demand if he impresses in the Euros for England next year.
The club also want to tie their best players down so that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s process of rebuilding the team continues without any hiccups. This includes offering January signing Bruno Fernandes a new deal too, less than a year after he joined from Sporting Lisbon. (h/t Mirror)
A homegrown player such as Rashford has gone on to embody the soul of the club and is a fan favourite. The decision to tie him down for the long-term can be only good news for the Red Devils fanbase.
