Juventus are linked with a move to bring Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek to Turin
According to a report by Italian outlet CalcioMercato (h/t Daily Mail), Juventus are interested in securing the services of Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek.
The Dutch midfielder joined Manchester United from Ajax this summer in a £40m move but has since failed to displace Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United’s starting line-up.
The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder’s first Premier League start came this weekend in a 3-2 win against Southampton. Apart from that, he has largely been on the fringes of the United squad.
Andrea Pirlo is now considering signing Donny van de Beek and reunite him with his Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt, with whom he reached the semi-final of the 2019 UEFA Champions League after beating Juventus.
The report claims that Juventus are unlikely to move for the Dutchman in January, but mentions that their chief football officer Fabio Paratici would be looking to arrange a loan move with an option to buy the player for £30m at the end of it. (h/t Daily Mail)
The Dutch midfielder appeared for 23 minutes in his Manchester United debut against Crystal Palace and impressed with his performance as he scored a goal in the 1-3 loss.
However, this was the longest he featured in any league game until he started against Southampton. The Dutch midfielder has seen much more action in the UEFA Champions League, where he recently impressed in the Red Devils’ 4-1 win against Istanbul Besaksehir.
A move away from Old Trafford this early in his Red Devils career seems unlikely, but not impossible. If he is to leave United, then the club should be wary of the lack of quality depth in central midfield.
At just 23 years of age, van de Beek has plenty of time to develop and become an even better player. If a move away from United does happen for the ex-Ajax man, losing a young player of his calibre may not go down well with the United fanbase.
