4 PSG players miss out on the trip to Manchester United due to injury

A report by Manchester Evening News claims that four PSG players will miss the clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League group stage fixture due to injury.

The French club faced a double injury blow as both Mauro Icardi and Pablo Sarabia have been sidelined with injuries in training.

Icardi came off the bench for PSG against Bordeaux this weekend but felt some pain in his thigh during training. Sarabia also encountered a muscle strain in training this week despite starting against Bordeaux. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

PSG are already without Spanish left-back Juan Bernat and German playmaker Julian Draxler, and the injuries to Icardi and Sarabia will only increase Thomas Tuchel’s team-selection headaches.

Draxler has been out of action after a hamstring injury last month, while Juan Bernat suffered a ligament injury back in September. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

Speaking in an interview ahead of the game, PSG’s Brazilian winger Neymar, who is fit, has recognized the importance of the clash against United. He said that they would have to be at their best to get a result against United.

“We know the importance of the Champions League game on Wednesday. This is decisive. We didn’t play well against Leipzig (1-0 victory), but we managed to win. On Wednesday we are going to try to have our best game, play well, but we need to improve certain details, play more as a team, be more organised, otherwise it is going to be difficult.”

After 4 group stage games, PSG are 2nd in the group table with 6 points while Manchester United lead the pack with 9 points. RB Leipzig are 3rd with 6 points as well and will challenge both PSG and United for a qualification berth in Group H.

A point against the Parisians would mean that United will qualify for the knockouts with one game remaining. United won the reverse fixture against PSG at Parc des Princes earlier this season via a late goal from Marcus Rashford.
