Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is the man currently in charge of transfers. He has come udner intense scrutiny after failing to land a number of targets in recent years.
Our pursuit of Jadon Sancho in the summer was a prime example of Woodward’s lack of decisiveness. Not only did we lose out on the young winger but were left scrambling to complete deals on deadline day.
It would appear that United are ready to finally ready to make a change at the top. Brands’ contract at Everton runs out next summer and he is considered a top candidate for the job. (h/t The Sun)
The report goes on to add that such an appointment could spell the end of Woodward at the club. (h/t The Sun)
The proposed new structure will see Brands take center stage. The 58-year-old had earlier worked with Dutch sides RKC Waalwijk, AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven.
Friends of the Dutchman have revealed that he would find United hard to turn down. Roma, too, remain keen on securing his services. (h/t The Sun)

Teams such as Liverpool have gone on to make impressive signings in the transfer market. While it is difficult to admit as a fan, it is clear that the Merseysiders have hit gold in the market a number of times.
Rather than luck, it comes down to a structure within the club that works together to ensure the right players come in with minimal fuss. United will do well to take heed of that.
