Manchester United earmark Eduardo Camavinga to replace Paul Pogba
According to Spanish publication AS vis Sport Witness (h/t The Metro), Manchester United are lining up Eduardo Camavinga to replace Paul Pogba.
The French world cup winner is in the final year of his contract. United however have the option to extend it for another year and are expected to do just that.
Pogba recently admitted that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid one day. Securing his services for another year will ensure Untied can push for a transfer fee next summer.
If Pogba does leave, Camavinga is the player United will turn to fill the void in their midfield.
The 17-year-old is one of the best young talents in world football. He became Rennes’ youngest debutant last season and went on to make 36 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
Competition for the player is high, with the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus and PSG all keeping tabs on the teenager.
According to the report, United have got the wheels turning to secure Camavinga in the case of Pogba’s departure.
Selling Pogba will free up £15m-a-year in wages for United. This can help us in our attempt to land the Rennes wonderkid.
Selling Pogba to Real will also affect the Spanish giants’ ability to land Camavinga. They are keeping tabs on both Kylian Mbappe and Camavinga, and having them spend a fortune on Pogba could work in our favour.
