Italian giants set to trump Man United to incredible Bosman signing

Juventus could trump Manchester United to David Alaba next summer

According to Italian publication Football Italia (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United look set to lose out on signing Bayern Munich star David Alaba.

The 28-year-old has been a mainstay in the Bayern Munich side for the better part of the last decade. He is currently in the last year of his contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer.

With there having been no breakthrough in talks so far, it is possible that the Austrian international could be on the move in a year’s time.

Alaba’s situation has attracted the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs. Italian champions Juventus are believed to be leading the race for his signature.

Among the other suitors are United, Manchester City, and PSG. City believe the 28-year-old can replace Benjamin Mendy at left-back while PSG are keen to replace Thiago Silva. (h/t The Sun)

The player however is not letting his mind wander and is focussed on doing his best for Bayern. He was a regular in the side that won the treble last season.

A versatile player, Alaba can be considered a jack of many trades. He is capable of playing in defence and also in midfield. Also an accomplished set-piece taker, he would add so much to United.

An able defensive midfielder with a good passing range, he has the ability to play out from the back.

The six-time Austrian footballer of the year is one of the finest players to come out of the country. At 28, he is at his prime and will be an asset for whichever team he decides to play for.
