Paul Pogba hints at leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid
According to The Guardian, Manchester United star Paul Pogba has admitted that he dreams of playing for Real Madrid one day.
The 27-year-old however went on to add that his current focus remains on helping United improve after a poor start to the season.
The Frenchman looked to be on his way out last summer. But he stayed put in what was eventually an injury-ravaged season.
“Of course, every footballer would love to play for Real Madrid and would dream about that. It’s a dream of mine, so why not one day.”
Pogba has got off to a disastrous start in the Premier League this season. He has looked off the pace and had conceded two penalties in three Premier League appearances so far.
The Red Devils have gained three points from three games so far. It is fair to say that the promising end to last season now appears a long time ago.
The Frenchman admits that players go through difficult times in their careers. It is however up to them to stay mentally strong and get the club back to where it belongs.
“Every player goes through difficult periods but you have to be strong mentally and we all need to try and get the team back to where it belongs.”
Pogba’s links to Real are nothing new. Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane is a fan of Pogba and wants the player to join him at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Frenchman enjoyed a good spell of form after returning from injury last season, post restart. Teaming up with Bruno Fernandes, he appeared to be getting back to his best.
This led to the belief that he would eventually pen a contract extension with United. Given his latest comments, it remains to be seen as to what happens.
