Eric Djemba-Djemba names Roberto Firmino as the perfect striker for Manchester United

According to the Daily Star, former Manchester United star Eric Djemba Djemba has named Roberto Firmino as the perfect Manchester United striker.

Considering that the Brazilian plays for Liverpool, there is no way we will know for sure if the Cameroonian is right in his assessment.

The 28-year-old struggled initially under Brendan Rodgers. But that was to be expected when your forward is played out of position. It was after Jurgen Klopp took over that the Liverpool number 9 truly shone.

“Roberto Firmino would be the perfect striker for United, but they will never get him.”

Firmino is not a regular striker as we are accustomed to seeing. He is rather a lynchpin that connects both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. With a peerless work rate and energy, he is a specialist who ensures the attackers around him thrive.

Rather than try to copy our arch-rivals, we should be attempting to use the strengths of our forwards to the maximum. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial look set to break the 20-goal barrier.

Youngster Mason Greenwood has also been developing nicely this season. If we do plan to close the gap on Liverpool, we will need our strikers to keep firing.

Another option is to bring in someone else to help us bridge the gap. According to Djemba-Djemba, that player can be Harry Kane.

The England skipper is one of the best strikers in world football. Not only will he cost a bomb but his selfish streak could be detrimental to the squad morale.

A striker should be selfish but not to the extent that it may deter your team. Rather than centralize the goalscoring source, it would be better if they goals come from all over the pitch.

A rigid player, Kane could also affect the fluid brand that is synonymous with our reputation.

More Manchester United

There are a number of top strikers in world football. The aim for us is to figure out a system that gets the best out of our players.

There is no guarantee that Firmino or Kane would succeed at United. At the moment, we have potentially three world-class forwards. We must attempt to get the best out of them.
