Chelsea interested in Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson
According to the Daily Mail (h/t Express), Chelsea are keeping tabs on Dean Henderson.
The United loanee has impressed at Sheffield United as the Blades challenge for a spot in Europe this season.
The goalkeeping department is one that has plagued Frank Lampard since he took over at Stamford Bridge last summer. The most expensive keeper in the world, Kepa Arrizabalaga has looked anything but as he struggles to perform consistently.
With his future uncertain, Lampard has turned his attention to Henderson. The 23-year-old has only gone from strength to strength at Bramall Lane. He played a key role as the Blades secured promotion last season before getting better this campaign.
Competition for the keeper is high given his performances. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier revealed that the keeper has a future at United.
Although David de Gea remains the first-choice for now, Henderson has proven himself capable of taking up that mantle.
Selling him to a direct rival not only weakens us but also strengthens them. Goalkeepers can be matchwinners as De Gea has proved numerous times. With Henderson, the trend could well continue.
Henderson won the EFL Golden Glove in 2019 and was also a part of the English team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2017.
He is also in the running for this season’s Premier League Golden Glove. He trails behind Burnley’s Nick Pope by a solitary shutout.

Henderson is not the only talented young keeper at United. The Red Devils signed Nathan Bishop in January while 16-year-old Czech sensation Radek Vitek became the club’s first summer signing.
Henderson, on the other hand, is already a proven talent with Premier League experience. He should be kept at the club.
