Manchester United interested in Chelsea winger Willian
According to France Football (h/t Metro), Manchester United have been in contact with the representatives of Chelsea winger Willian.
The 31-year-old is in the final few weeks of his Chelsea contract and will be available for free when it expires. The Blues are not ready to give him the three-year deal he wants, leaving him free to look elsewhere.
The Brazilian is also yet to sign a temporary extension that will see him end the season at the Bridge. Since an injury could see a transfer get scuppered, his decision is understandable.
A player with seven years of experience in the Premier League, Willian can be instantly added to our squad. He has made 329 appearances for Chelsea and has scored 59 goals and 59 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Add to it that we can get him for free, the transfer makes sense, especially at this point in time. Capable of playing on either flank, he will give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a consistent option out wide.
We will face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and PSG. However, neither of them are willing to offer him a three-year deal.
Tottenham Hotspur is another option. Jose Mourinho was also keen on bringing the player to Old Trafford during his time as United boss.
United have a young forward line. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Daniel James are all talented but young.
Adding a seasoned professional to the mix is something that the club is keen on. A cheap option with considerable experience, Willian fits the bill just fine.

Signing the Brazilian could be a shrewd move going into the new season. An exceptionally fit player, Willian has missed just 13 games through injury in his career. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Willian had earlier admitted that he wants to stay in England. United could be his next destination.
