Man United identify £40m star as alternative to £100m-rated Jadon Sancho

Manchester United identify Leon Bailey as an alternative to Jadon Sancho

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United have identified Leon Bailey as an alternative to Jadon Sancho.

United have not been exempt from the after-effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Ed Woodward has already confirmed that the club will have to be smart in how they approach the transfer market.

The thought applies to Sancho given his massive asking fee. United have no interest in entering a bidding war and have earmarked cheaper alternatives to the player.

Leon Bailey can turn his career around at Manchester United

Bailey is one such option. The Leverkusen winger was one of the best young players in the world two years ago. Injuries have since seen him regress. But at 22, he still has enough time to turn his career around.

The Jamaican international has scored seven goals and two assists in 27 games this season. Capable of playing on either wing, the player packs a punch. (h/t Transfermarkt)

He is valued at £40million, considerably lower than that of Sancho or Jack Grealish. (h/t Daily Mail)

Bailey is adept at using either feet and is capable of playing at the highest level. In addition to his ability on the ball, having Champions League experience is a major draw.

Two major concerns will be his fitness and discipline. Bailey has started just 11 matches this season while also picking up two red cards.

The transgression has seen him get suspended for five matches in addition to those already missed due to injury.

Given Solskjaer can rein him in, he could go on to become an excellent player at Old Trafford.
