Blow for United in the chase for Moussa Dembele
According to the Express, Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Lyon striker Moussa Dembele.
The 23-year-old has emerged as a target for some time now. Lyon coach Rudi Garcia revealed that the striker will not be leaving the Ligue 1 club this summer.
“I can tell you categorically that we have not received any offers for them[Aouar and Dembele].”
This is in direct contrast to the statements made by Lyon’s sporting director Juninho last week. He revealed that it is possible Dembele will leave the club once the window opens.
It is interesting to note that despite what the report says, Garcia has not explicitly denied that the forward will bid goodbye.
The stance could change if a substantial bid is made for the player. With no European football to offer next season, club president Jean-Michel Aulas had openly admitted that he might have no choice but to sell his stars. (h/t Daily Star)
This could work in our favour if we choose to go all-in for the Frenchman.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season at the Groupama Stadium and has scored an impressive 22 goals and 7 assists in 42 appearances.
United failed to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez last summer. Had it not been for the form shown by Odion Ighalo, the fallout of Marcus Rashford’s injury could have been catastrophic.

It remains to be seen if United will make a bid for the player and if so, how much. We just have to wait and see if Lyon take the bite.
