Victor Osimhan backed to complete record transfer to the Premier League
According to Channels Television (h/t Express), Nigerian national team manager Gernot Rohr has revealed that Victor Osimhen will have the opportunity to join a ‘very, very big club’ in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a stellar debut season in the French division. He scored 13 goals and 5 assists in 27 appearances as Lille finished fourth in the prematurely concluded Ligue 1 season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
His performances have garnered interest from the Premier League. Apart from United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Liverpool are also interested in the player. (h/t Express)
It represents a rise in the player’s stature having joined from Belgian side Charleroi only last summer. His tally across all competitions lies at 18 goals and 6 assists in 38 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)
According to the report, Rohr thinks a move to England or Italy could be in the works.
“I think Osimhen will have a very big opportunity to go from Lille, perhaps in the Premier League or in Italy, to a very, very big club.”
Lille owner Gerard Lopez had earlier claimed that the club had received multiple offers for Osimhen. He could fetch more than the £72million Arsenal paid for Nicolas Pepe last summer.
He has shown he can also play the highest level. This was well illustrated by his strike against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League.
According to Le10 Sports (h/t Express), it may have prompted Chelsea to reach out to the player’s representatives.
An upcoming striker, Osimhan has all the attributes to star for a major side. Whether it is at United or not remains to be seen.

The Red Devils recently extended Odion Ighalo’s loan till January. Although we need a striker, it is not an immediate concern.
With us also targeting the likes of Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish, it is debatable if we can go big for Osimhen.
