African star reveals Manchester United dream as he aims to link up with compatriot

Ikechukwu Ezenwa keen to link up with Odion Ighalo at Manchester United

Nigerian international goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has revealed his dream of playing alongside international teammate Odion Ighalo for Manchester United. He revealed this in an Instagram Live session, as reported by the Express.

Ighalo became the first Nigerian to don the famous red kit when he moved from the Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua in a deadline-day loan deal in January.

Mocked as a panic signing, the 30-year-old has answered his critics on the pitch. A United fan, he has filled in for Marcus Rashford and contributed to four goals and one assist in eight games so far.

He has done his chances of being offered a permanent deal no harm. Ezenwa believes he could be the second Nigerian to join the list. He believes that the chance to move to the Red Devils “is possible”.

“I will join my friend ‘Mummy’ Ighalo in Manchester United.”

Ezenwa has won 21 caps for his country and was a part of Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup. Truth be said, it is difficult to see him make the move to United given the options already available at the club.

At 31, Ezenwa’s chances of making it to United are at best extremely unlikely. But if Ighalo has proven anything, it is that opportunities may appear when you least expect it.
