Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes shushed Guardiola for asking Shaw to hurry up

According to a report by The Metro, Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has opened up as to why he shushed Pep Guardiola during the league encounter against Manchester City.

The Red Devils registered a triumphant 2-0 win over the reigning Premier League champions but tensions rose high between City boss Guardiola and Fernandes.

As his side went 2-0 down, Guardiola visibly looked upset and the situation was further compounded when United players took their time in an attempt to see out the game.

However, Bruno is not one to take things lightly – especially not when it comes to his team. While Guardiola appeared to ask Luke Shaw to hurry up, the Portuguese ace put his finger on his lips and gestured the former Barcelona manager to keep quiet.

When asked about the incident, Bruno told Sky Sports (h/t The Metro),

“I talked about this with some friends and some people think “Pep won everything, who is Bruno to diss him?”, but I think it is about respect.”

“Now, I think outside of the pitch I don’t do this again if I am on the pitch now. But, at that moment the words he told me made me mad, and on the pitch I am a little bit nervous, it is the kind of player I am,” he explained.

Bruno went on to add that he respects Pep for everything he has achieved and won over the years but also bluntly stated that at that moment on the pitch, the City manager simply did not “deserve” his respect.

It is indeed refreshing to see Bruno’s passion and love for the team and his teammates. Be it on the field or off it, his commitment to the badge on his shirt never wavers. Truly, we are lucky to have him in our squad.
