Why Manchester United Should Pursue Talented MK Dons Teenager

Manchester United have a reputation for putting faith in their youth and bringing them through into the senior squad, but lately there has been fewer players coming through.

Adnan Januzaj broke into the first-team this season under David Moyes in dramatic fashion, scoring two goals to help United comeback from a goal down against Sunderland.

The young Belgian winger is the first player in recent times that has been good enough to make an impact in the Premier League but also to excite United fans, which is what they need.

Sky Sports reports that United are one of several Premier League clubs who are believed to be interested in the MK Dons’ 18 year-old midfield sensation Dele Alli.

Milton Keynes Dons manager Karl Robinson has described the youngster as ‘unique’ and expects him to reach similar heights as Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.

He made only seven appearances in his first season, five of which came in the FA Cup. But now Alli has certainly nailed down a place for ‘The Dons’, making 37 appearances and scoring seven goals.

Alli is an all-round midfield talent, he is quick, likes to get forward, can score goals and at 6ft2 he offers a great physical presence despite his in-experience.

With the midfield one of the main areas that need strengthening, Alli would certainly provide great back-up to whatever big money signings Louis van Gaal makes.

For all we know, the youngster could follow in the footsteps of Januzaj and impress the new manager enough to warrant a spot in the senior squad.

However, the last powerful midfield talent the club possessed, (Paul Pogba) was allowed to walk out the door and United missed out.

With the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United sniffing around I would bet he won’t be there much longer.
