Sarpsborg young star Krepin Diatta has admitted that it would be a ‘dream come true’ for him to move to Manchester United, after The Sun reported that the Red Devils have intensified their efforts of signing him.
The 18-year-old Senegalese midfielder has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar for quite some time now and scouts have kept a keen eye on the player.
According to The Metro, the agent of the young starlet has revealed that he has been in touch with the Red Devils’ scouts and that he had an initial discussion over a potential move in the near future.
Youssoupha Fall, who represents Diatta, has spoken to United scouts twice already – first when the player was representing his nation at the Under-20 World Cup and later after the league game against Brann.
It is believed that United’s scouts have been on his trail for the past 18 months, keeping a close eye on his progress. It is also believed that the scouts were present even last weekend in Sarpsborg’s clash with Odds BK.
The teenager is a big fan of the Red Devils and says that joining Man Utd would be a dream come true.
He said:
“I didn’t know they scouted me today, but to join them would be a dream come true.”
What makes it interesting is the fact that United are not alone in the pursuit. Sarpsborg sporting director Thomas Berntsen insists that the Red Devils were not the only side that is interested in his services.
The youngster signed a new four-year deal with the Norwegian side in February. That would put Sarpsborg in the driving seat because they can sell him at the right price.
It is believed that Diatta could leave as early as January, provided United follow-up on their interest with a concrete bid.
A player with considerable pace and energy in the midfield, Diatta is considered to be one of the promising youngsters in Europe. He has 7 goals to his name for Sarpsborg, with two of those coming in the last 5 appearances. Sarspborg are 2nd in the league, with 6 points separating the top two sides.
