Manchester United enter transfer race for Ajax hotshot David Neres
Manchester United have entered the race for Ajax hotshot David Neres, reports the Sun.
The Sun claims the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has emerged as one of Europe’s best young players this season, has also attracted interest from Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea.
David Neres joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in January 2017 and went onto play in their Europa League final loss against Manchester United in Stockholm. He bagged an eye-catching 14 goals and 13 assists in his first full season for Ajax in 2017/10.
The winger has been in red-hot form this season, contributing with 12 goals and 15 assists in 45 appearances Ajax across all competitions, whilst being one of the stars of this year’s Champions League. The 22-year-old has scored knockout goals against Real Madrid and Juventus, while earning his first international call up in March.
The report claims that Ajax value Neres at £45 million, and Manchester United have shown an interest to sign him in the summer transfer window.
David Neres would fit the bill at United
Manchester United’s squad has been crying out for a natural right-sided winger for some time now. The lack of a right winger has often made the Red Devils’ play in the final third one-dimensional and predictable.
This area is something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to rectify in the summer and he could do a good job by splashing the cash on Neres. Blessed with explosive pace, excellent technical ability and dribbling skills, the 22-year-old’s direct style of play makes him ideally suited to Solskjaer’s system at our club.
