An already tough season has gotten even worse for Manchester United star, Marcus Rashford as he has not been included in England’s provisional squad for Euros 2024. However, the news couldn’t be further from a ‘shocking revelation’.

The Manchester-born star is not playing up to his usual levels and has had a terrible campaign under Erik ten Hag this year. The 26-year-old has made 42 appearances recording just eight goals and five assists.

Even England boss, Gareth Southgate has said that Rashford hasn’t been having the best of seasons this time around. Here’s what the English manager had to say when asked about dropping the 26-year-old. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)

“I just feel other players in that area of the pitch have had better seasons. That’s it”.

Southgate also said that he has had to cut important players who have played a huge part in what England has done over the past few years. However, for 26-year-old Rashford, his international journey might end prematurely if he isn’t able to find his former self.

Going from a 30-goal forward to not even cracking double digits the very next season is shocking, to say the least. Manchester United needs to figure out why Marcus Rashford has been so below par.

On the other hand, the Red Devils will be happy to see that 19-year-old Kobbie Mainoo will be a part of Southgate’s squad. Mainoo has had an incredible season and a good performance in the EUROs will solidify his spot in England’s team.

If anything, Marcus Rashford should treat this as an opportunity to grow. If the Manchester-born star can draw inspiration from his snub, he might be able to get back to his usual level next season.
