Manchester United will have to beat Inter and Newcastle for the signature of La Liga winning defensive star
As reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in signing La Liga winning defensive star, Jules Kounde. The 25-year-old has been playing at right-back for Xavi Hernandez’s FC Barcelona.
Kounde’s versatility and quality in defence are highly appreciated by a number of clubs, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan and Newcastle United will also be looking to sign the 25-year-old for €50 million this summer.
The Catalan club needs to raise money and move players this summer as they look to get back to the 1:1 rule. Someone is obviously leaving Barca this summer and Kounde could be the player they choose to sacrifice for funds.
Since he can play across a number of different positions on defence Manchester United will greatly benefit from adding him to the lineup. They might also be the more enticing option for the Frenchman since the team would most likely play him as a CB.
The Red Devils already have Diogo Dalot playing at RB and Luke Shaw will most likely be filling the LB spot when he returns from injury. This leaves the two CBs that United need to find for their next campaign.
Lisandro Martinez will most definitely be the first choice and if Kounde joins his quality will trump most players that are currently on the Red Devils’ roster. However, signing him will not be easy.
