Manchester United are ready to battle West Ham United to sign VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy
Manchester United and West Ham United are targeting in-form VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy for the upcoming summer transfer window. Guirassy is enjoying a prolific season with Stuttgart, second behind Harry Kane in the Bundesliga’s goal-scoring chart this season.
Stuttgart are currently third in the Bundesliga, enjoying a steep rise since their last season’s finish in the 16th position. Standing at 1.87 metres, Guirassy is an imposing figure who can dominate any defender with his physical strength and athleticism.
The 28-year-old’s performance has earned him a comparison with Stuttgart’s title-winning forward Mario Gomez for his killer finishing abilities. The Guinea international uses anticipation and well-timed movements off the ball to be at the right place inside the box.
He has impressive technique and the ability to finish with his both feet and through his powerful headers. Currently, in his prime, Guirassy has only gained more composure in high-pressure situations with increase in his confidence.
The 28-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring 27 goals and providing two assists for Stuttgart this season. According to BILD (h/t Fichajes), Man United and West Ham want Guirassy to bolster their attacking department during the summer.
The Red Devils are currently seventh in the Premier League with minus one in goal difference due to their struggle. United have only scored 47 goals from 32 matches this season which shows the struggle of their attacking players.
Anthony Martial will leave as a free agent at the end of the season after struggling with injuries and inconsistencies. Furthermore, Marcus Rashford has failed to repeat his last season’s goalscoring form and lacks the confidence of the United fans.

The Red Devils signed Antony under Erik ten Hag and he has failed to live up to his high price. They signed Rasmus Hojlund last summer to lead the frontline but the youngster is too raw and inconsistent.
Guirassy fits the profile that United desperately need in a forward and he is currently performing at the peak of his career. The 28-year-old could command a high price but remains a bargain compared to recent costly signings by the Red Devils, which have often underperformed.
