Manchester United have beaten out PL rivals Arsenal to claim an esteemed award
Manchester United have beaten Arsenal to claim their first award of the season. While it is prestigious it is not the kind of award that the United fans have been looking forward to. Hopefully, Erik ten Hag will be able to add to their trophy count before the season ends.
The Red Devils claimed the top award at the FootballvHomophobia awards, which were held in Manchester itself. There were three football teams in the running. Arsenal, Exeter and Manchester United.
The organisers even had some positive words to say about the Old Trafford squad and their efforts to fight discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. Here’s what they said under their section honouring United. (h/t Football.London)
“Working closely with supporters group Rainbow Devils, fans who attend games and those who don’t were both educated and invited to empathise with LGBTQ+ people, with tangible results.”
The section went on to mention that events like ‘One Love Live’ were extremely successful in educating the masses about the different issues that people of the LGBTQ+ community have had to face over the years.
The Red Devils have truly made a difference in the fight against discrimination. Fans of the club should be proud of what they have achieved, hopefully, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime will take the team’s ambitions forward, both off the pitch and on it.
This also marks the first award that the Red Devils have picked up during the INEOS era. It must be sweet to know that Manchester United beat out Arsenal for it.

But, at the end of the day, it is still an award that has nothing to do with the level of football being played at Old Trafford. Hopefully, when the time comes, Erik ten Hag will be able to beat Arsenal on the pitch as well.
