Manchester United were ‘comepletely’ dominated by Wolves during crucial moments says Gary O’Neil
Manchester United played the Wolves last night in what proved to be a spectacular match. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for the Red Devils by hitting a stunner from just outside the box.
United’s lead was doubled by Rasmus Hojlund who added a goal and an assist during the game. But Wolves struck back during the second half to make it 2-1. Then it was Scott McTominay who came off the bench and scored a header to give the Old Trafford squad a two-goal lead again.
However, Wolves were not ready to give up and quickly equalised with back-to-back goals. Then it was Kobbie Mainoo who had a moment of sheer brilliance during stoppage time to put his team up 4-3. Despite the closely contested game, Wolves coach, Gary O’Neil says that his team ‘dominated’ during a crucial phase.
Let’s have a look at what the Wolves head coach had to say (h\t Wolves)
“But the second half was an incredible performance. I thought we were excellent and completely dominated.”
He went on to say that his team played well and were unlucky to not come away with a single point. O’Neil is not wrong, more than once it looked like the game would slip away from Manchester United.
However, on a more positive note for the Red Devils, it finally seems like they are playing with some tenacity. Their defence was excellent and the attack capitalised on a ton of opportunities. If Andre Onana was half the goalkeeper that people make him out to be Wolves would have never come back.
Erik ten Hag will be elated with his team and yesterday was probably the Red Devils’ strongest showing of the season so far.
