Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to ‘hammer’ one weakness that was exposed against both Wolves and Newport County

No one’s gonna be happier about Manchester United’s win against the Wolves, than Erik ten Hag. For the first time this season, the Dutchman’s team looked like they actually came to play.

The team got off to a great start and scored two goals within a span of 25 minutes, with contributions coming in from Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund. However, Erik ten Hag’s work is far from over.

If it wasn’t for Kobbie Mainoo’s moment of brilliance, Wolves might have stolen the game from United. The team seems to get complacent when they’re ahead, we also saw this during their game against Newport County.

“For the penalty, they beat our press and it was similar to the second goal we conceded in Newport. We have to hammer this out of the team and such mistakes cannot happen.”

Erik ten Hag went on to say that his team always seems to take too many risks when they’re in the lead. He would rather see them be organised and stay calm regardless of how wide the margin is.

Overall, the Dutchman had mixed feelings about the game but he did mention that he was extremely pleased with some individual performances from last night.

The brightest star on the pitch for Manchester United last night has to be Rasmus Hojlund. The 20-year-old got himself an assist and a goal all within the first 25 minutes of the game.’
