Manchester United are in the lead to sign 7-goal Serie A striker who is also wanted by Ajax Amsterdam

As reported by The Sun (h\t ESPN), Manchester United are in a ‘pole position’ to sign a young star who is also wanted by Ajax. The player in question is 7-goal Serie A striker, Joshua Zirkzee.

The 22-year-old has been highly impressive during his time at Bologna FC. Over 22 appearances this season, Zirkzee has recorded eight goals and four assists for the Serie A outfit.

He has also previously been a Champions League winner during his time at Bayern Munich. A huge achievement for such a young talent.

The question that has been on everyone’s mind is, where does Joshua Zirkzee fit in at Manchester United? The team already has young Rasmus Hojlund who has been heading the team’s attacking duties.

They could deploy the two players in rotation but that could hinder their growth. If the Red Devils want to give consistent playing time to both these youngsters, Ten Hag will have to alter his formation and put two strikers up front.

However, that is still a long way off as Zirkzee will most likely only be signed after the end of the season. It is very possible that Erik ten Hag won’t even be at Old Trafford by that time.
