Manchester United will welcome back five stars including Casemiro against Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester United take on Tottenham Hotspur on 14th January 2024 and one familiar name expected to return to the ranks is Brazilian midfielder Casemiro.
The veteran ace has been a difference maker for the Red Devils since arriving from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. While his performances have fallen off this season, Casemiro continues to be one of the club’s best enforcers when in form.
His absence saw us struggle to control the narrative in midfield, often seeing us get overrun easily in that area of the pitch. The prospect of facing Tottenham’s high energy style without our best defensive midfielder was a major concern. With Casemiro set to return, we hope Erik ten Hag can now get his tactics right and secure a statement win.
The Red Devils won just one of their final six matches in 2023 in what was an abject end to the year. The situation appears to be improving injury wise and several players could now be available in the upcoming weeks.
Man United face Wigan Athletic this weekend and will only play their first Premier League game of 2024 on 14th January. This breather allows Ten Hag to work on the fitness of key players like Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount.
According to the Evening Standard, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are expected to return against Wigan. Both have struggled with injuries this season and will hope to build up their match fitness ahead of the Tottenham clash.
Tyrell Malacia is also in contention to return against Spurs while Victor Lindelof will need to wait a little longer. It will certainly take time for the returning players to get their fitness up to speed. But their availability will certainly give Ten Hag more options to work with.

Injuries have also hampered Tottenham this season but Ange Postecoglou, to his credit, has gotten better results from those under his command than Ten Hag. Hopefully, the Dutchman can get his bearings right and set us off to a strong end to the 2023/24 campaign.
