Barcelona star says he feels good at the club after being asked about a switch to Manchester United

Manchester United have long been looking to bring over Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford. According to Mirror, both clubs even agreed to a fee for the player’s transfer.

This was amazing news for Erik Ten Hag and the fans. But, the deal never materialised and De Jong ended up staying as a part of the Catalan outfit. The Dutchman could not get his hands on his primary target back then.

Eventually, Manchester United ended up signing Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The signing of those two ultimately put an end to the Frenkie de Jong saga. But, seeing how the team is currently doing they could use a talent like him.

Frenkie de Jong alone could end Manchester United’s creative troubles. His position as one of Xavi’s mainstays has been earned by good performances on the field. The Red Devils desperately need someone like him to deliver the ball to their attackers.

However, when De Jong was asked about a possible switch to Manchester United this is what he had to say. (h/t Fabrizio Romano)

“Possibly. But I’m very satisfied at Barça. It’s always difficult to say. For now I feel good here!”.

While it sounds like he isn’t completely closed off to the idea, Manchester United will likely not find a deal at least till next summer. For now, the team must look elsewhere as they try to find a spark for their middle line.

On a more positive note, Manchester United should look to give more playing time to young Kobbie Mainoo. The 18-year-old midfielder has a lot of potential to grow and lead the Old Trafford middle line.
