Manchester United could soon be taking on Liverpool for the signature of £78m touted to be Raphael Varane’s replacement

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Manchester United have not opted to extend the contract of Raphael Varane. This was done as the team did not believe that his performance was worthy of his £340,000 a week wage.

Although the plan is to sign Varane to a new contract within the upcoming weeks there have been some interesting developments at Manchester United. They are looking to sign 18-year-old Leny Yoro, as reported by French publication Le 10 Sport.

The Frenchman is an excellent option for any team that is looking to bolster their defensive line. His pace helps him keep up with most players and his tall frame of 1.90m helps him tower the rest.

The 18-year-old has made 21 appearances for Ligue 1 side LOSC Lille. During that time he has even grabbed himself three goals while being an excellent addition to the defensive line (Transfermarkt).

If Manchester United hope to sign the player they need to move fast. Premier League rivals Manchester City and Liverpool are also reportedly in the running for the French defender.

Although Lille are not too keen on letting the defender go it has been reported that they will listen to offers in the region of £78m. The Red Devils will need to do some offloading before they are prepared to bid for Leny Yoro.
